Our native daffodil is smaller and less showy than the garden varieties, but still very pretty. The petals are paler than the trumpet, narrow and slightly twisted. The leaves are grey-green, thin, long and flattened.

In the southeast of the UK, it is more or less confined to woodlands, where over the decades, it seeds about to form carpets (unlike the closely related garden daffodil Narcissus pseudonarcissus ssp major which divides to form discrete clumps).
