Members celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Norfolk and Norwich Naturalists' Society at How Hill were treated to a splendid display of Meadow Thistle on our walk across the fen meadow led by Dan Hoare.

These Marsh Dock plants were growing in their dozens around the cattle-poached margin of a pond on Harpers Common, central Norfolk.

We found one plant in flower on some hard core, then proceeded to find about 20 plants in dry grassland nearby. Moving onto another meadow on the other side of the runway, we were delighted to find it in abundance.

These rare Sulphur Clover are growing in abundance on some lane verges south of Topcroft.

This was the most abundant plant in some pingos on Thompson Common. The characteristic orange anthers were clearly visible towards the top of the spike-like panicle, with white anthers below.

We found just one flower hiding in the grass at the side of a path in a damp area near a pingo on Thompson Common.

We were surprised to find Wall Bedstraw, which is more typical of old walls, on some short breck-like grassland near the car park at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

In an area of short grassland near the car park at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, we found Rough Clover growing close to Bur Medick (Medicago minima).

A remarkably large/old and typically-structured specimen of this rare non-native tree, growing in North Pickenham churchyard.
