During my lunchtime walk around Bowthorpe Marshes, I noticed a patch of chickweed, growing in the long grass beneath some trees, along the edge of a the footpath.
It struck me as being very upright with larger leaves and flowers than Common Chickweed. On closer inspection, the flowers could be seen to have 9 or 10 stamens which confirmed my identification of Greater Chickweed Stellaria neglecta. Often the stamens can form an inner and outer ring as can be seen in the right-hand side flower in the picture below.
