We paddled up the Yare from Eaton to Bowthorpe, the submerged much divided leaves could be seen hiding amongst the abundant submerged leaves of Arrowhead (Sagittaria sagittifolia) throughout the length of the river. Periodically the stems and flowering umbels would poke up out of the river and at the UEA footbridge they formed a floating island.
